Update: 09.06.2022:

You have surely already received the mail "Erinnerung Rückmeldung WS 22/23".

This mail states: 

"Regarding the 9 Euro ticket valid as of June 1, we kindly ask you to transfer the full semester fee to HAW Hamburg for the winter semester 2022/23. 
We will subsequently reimburse you for the semester ticket overpayment of approximately 64 euros for the summer semester 2022."

This means that no additional application is necessary, as originally thought.

All students who have paid the semester fee for the current semester will get €64.20 back.

However, since the federal government only pays the money for the 9€ ticket itself, but not for the administration of refunds, etc., there is a considerable additional workload for the employees of the transport associations and university administrations. So we have tried to find an implementable solution.

-- For all those who remain enrolled in the winter semester 2022/23, the amount will automatically be calculated against the semester fee, so you will have to pay 64,20€ less next semester. You will be reminded of this when the semester fee is due.

-- For all those who will be exmatriculated during or at the end of this semester, a portal will be set up through which the refund can be applied for. The exact framework of this portal is currently being clarified.

We are aware that it is not optimal to have to apply for the refund. However, it is the only feasible solution. We are still working on making the refund request as easy and smooth as possible.
