In December 2022, the Student Health Management Campuls started a survey among all students of the HAW. Within this survey, among other things, the gender of the respondents was asked; unfortunately in a biologistic and trans-hostile formulation. We as AStA voiced our criticism of this formulation directly after the survey was published in a personal conversation with Campuls and mentioned queer-friendly alternatives. 
It is very important to us as AStA that such discrimination is avoided. It is important to us to criticize respectfully and to give people the opportunity to reflect on their mistakes, to apologize and to learn from them in a mistake-friendly way - especially in the case of ignorance. 
In the context of the exchange between Campuls and AStA officers, we had the impression that the criticism is accepted at Campuls and that there is a willingness to learn. Campuls responded to the request for a public statement. 
Now there is a public statement from Campuls and we are appalled what came out of it.
Campuls published a post on Instagram talking about the survey. 
The title slide says "Thanks for taking part!". Finally, on the third slide with the title question "What did we learn?" it is implied that there was criticism related to queer issues in the survey. The wording for this is "We received feedback from the queer community on this after the survey was launched, thank you for that." The aspect that the feedback was criticism of discriminatory content is completely concealed. Further it says "The topic is important to us and we are glad that we are in exchange with the queer department of the AStA". Around which topic it goes, becomes thereby not clear. Finally, the responsibility is rejected by implying that those affected feel discriminated against, excluded or triggered. There was an offer from the AStA to view the post in order to give feedback before publication; this was rejected by Campuls.
We find no apology for the discriminatory content in the post, nor any acknowledgement of the error. Student health is a very important issue, and for this very reason, it raises the question for us: how valuable can a student health management system be that excludes individual groups of students that are already marginalized?
We will stop working with Campuls until further notice.
