The film by Iranian-British director Amir Amirani follows the global peace movement against the 2003 Iraq War. Under the pretext of defending democracy and protecting human rights, the so-called “coalition of the willing” waged a war against Iraq that violated international law, without a UN mandate.
Despite the defamation that calling for a civilized resolution to the conflict would play into the hands of the enemy, resistance grew and reached its peak on February 15, 2003, in Despite the defamation that the demand for a civil solution to the conflict would play into the hands of the enemy, resistance grew and reached its peak on February 15, 2003, in global mass protests involving over 30 million people.
The movement contributed to a critical reappraisal of the role of the US in the events leading up to the war, such as the emergence of Al-Qaeda. And it exposed the real reasons for the war, which included the desire to gain access to Iraq's oil reserves.
The film impressively shows the importance of civil society for peace and preventing participation in war, even beyond the immediate conflict. You are cordially invited!
